It goes without saying, but most human beings need to be constantly reminded that "life is short" -and that any wealth accumulated cannot be taken with us at our demise and that no matter how big a fortune we have managed to amass-if not put to use in the service of God and humanity is a millstone around one's neck rather than a bonus.
Not all the clairvoyance or kinetic powers in the world, or the ability to make things appear and disappear-and take photos through covered lenses or being able to drive blindfolded, or make seeds sprout in one's palm and make metal melt at the touch of two fingers or any other miraculous achievements is of any use to Uri Geller or anyone else for that matter if he does not look over his life achievements to date and decide to dedicate his efforts to a higher cause-the whole set up has been a tragic waste of effort.
It is very difficult to believe that the Powers that be would choose someone like Uri Geller to do their work for them in the world, only to discover that they had made a big mistake in their choice. But it has happened in the past that God has chosen what might seem like the wrong person. In the Old Testament, several prophets and kings did not fulfil their destiny. King Saul for example, though chosen and anointed-ended badly-Eli the priest-punished Jonah who refused to carry out his given job in Nivenah-in the New Testament-Judas Iscariot, a disciple of Christ suddenly turned traitor-and in modern times, Charles Manson and Hitler-both with mystic powers-who chose to serve the powers of darkness rather than the powers of Light. One wonders why God invests people with special powers and then seems to discover that He had made the wrong choice.
He says, "If I can get a reasonable amount of security, I can sit down for a month or more and think about what I really want to do. Should I work solely with science? Shall I continue roaming around the world? Shall I explore myself? Yes, yes, YES! He has worked with science. He has and still does roam the world; but it still remains for him to "explore himself" in order to discover and remain in constant contact with his indwelling Higher Self and thus become God-Realized.
The fact that Uri has not yet done so and seems to be stalling may possibly be because he doesn't know where to start, or where to find some bona-fide teacher who can explain things to him. Someone he can really trust, or may be he thinks that the process entails too much studying of books or might demand too much of his time or effort.
Maybe if it was pointed out to him how easy and effortless it is to meditate-(so easy a child could do it) and how little time he needs to set aside every day for meditation (one hour a day) and introduce him to a God-Realized teacher-he might just do that-he might just "begin to explore himself," and liberate his trapped Kundalini.
There is a saying in Siddha Yoga-meaning the "perfect yoga" (because it contains within itself all eight yogic paths) that meditation allows one to "do less and achieve more". In Uri's case, as soon as Kundalini begins to move towards the Sahasrar, his psychic powers will come to fruition as he achieves complete God-Realization. When that happens, his whole perspective on life will take on a different aspect-and the bliss and power that will inundate his whole Being will leave him speechless with the wonder and beauty of it all-and he will most probably kick himself for all the years he has spent neglecting the most important aspect of his life.
Uri certainly has no inkling of how lucky he is to be the recipient of an awakened Kundalini. This happens to one in every few million people. Most ordinary mortals spend decades meditating and practising austerities, prayer, fasting, abstention from sexual activity and other forms of sensual gratification in order to become one of the chosen lucky few to achieve the higher states of consciousness with all the accompanying powers.
Uri has not had to do any of that-not in this lifetime anyway. His Kundalini is awake and functioning and that is what most practitioners find impossible to attain-all he needs to do now is set the process going again. As soon as he sits down and starts practising he's not going to know what's hit him. The lights and colours and sights and sounds and indescribable ecstasy are going to leave him breathless and many a striving seeker on the spiritual path would give anything to be in his shoes. Even the stage Uri is at not is enviable.
Having said that Uri is so lucky, one can also say that he is most unlucky in that he is stuck half way. What use is your rocket that is meant to land you on the moon if it runs out of fuel two yards away from your target? The whole journey of thousands of miles and tons of fuel-turn out to be a waste of time and end in tragedy.
But this state of affairs, thankfully is not beyond repair. There is something that CAN be done about it. But it is something that only Uri Geller himself can do something about. Only he can decide whether he wants to take steps to complete the process within him that he's waiting patiently too be set in motion and given a push in the right direction.
When that happens, all the things that he strove for and is still striving for will come pouring in from all directions. His powers which are now there functioning in a limited form will become unlimited. The desire for money in most human beings is there because they think that it will buy them all the things that will bring happiness into their lives.
But a God Realized individual has access to the bottomless source of happiness within himself. He does not need money or security or the love of a companion, or the admiration of others-or high social standing in order to be happy-he IS HAPPY-he is HAPPINESS itself! But even so-all the things that he has relinquished all come rushing towards him-health, wealth, wisdom, love and bliss are showered upon him relentlessly without him having ever to lift a finger again in order to bring them about!
It is said that a swan who thrills in his existence because of the light and beauty that he enjoys in his natural surroundings, finds it impossible to describe them to his friend the owl-because the owl is a bird of the night and cannot imagine the light and colours of the world the swan lives in. Neither can an amphibious frog describe to a fish what a wonderful world exists above the water-alas-neither is it possible for the God Realized man or woman to describe the unbelievable ecstatic state of consciousness he lives in, to someone living in a lower chakra consciousness.
All the religious leaders and prophets throughout history have laboured and striven and preached and prayed to show suffering humanity the way back to paradise. They are still trying to do so. Yet how many will listen? How many will stop banging their heads against the invisible windowpane and fly back through the adjacent open window back to the garden and freedom? In "My Story" on page 282, Uri says that he thinks his powers "came from the big Cosmic Clown playing with us and who is not communicating with us as fully as he could". How can God communicate with us if we refuse to communicate with Him? He has given us the means of going within. He waits within for our visit. All we need to do is to stop going into the material world to seek for the happiness we're craving for. Spending all our time finding ways of adding more money to hoard in order to buy more material possessions keeps us outside. We reach for a beautiful shiny moon's reflection in the lake and cry when it fragments at our touch. To find the real moon, one needs to turn away from its reflection and face the Real moon. How can we communicate with God when we insist on reaching out for his reflection in the material world of illusion? That is why Jesus said, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven" (i.e. come into God's presence and communicate with Him). The implication being that the time spent in thinking about money, robs us of the time to think about God. It might be interesting to point out here that "the eye of the needle" was a gate in the walls of the city of Jerusalem where camels were driven back through every evening into their compounds after grazing on the surrounding hillsides. It was a very narrow gate and camels had a job to squeeze through. The real quotation is not "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, " but "through the Eye of THE needle" (gate). So the simile is neither as far-fetched nor as impossible as inadequate interpretation makes it sound.
