Many people who meditate have had the experience of the blissful consciousness but sooner or later they have to return to 'normality'. Such a state has also been experienced by people experimenting with drugs, but they too, once the effects of the drugs has worn off are pushed back to their daily mode of conscious and subconscious mind have permanent access to Superconciousness where all is bliss. That state in Sanskrit is "Samadhi" and "Nirvana" of Buddhism. Also what Christ referred to as the "Heaven Within".
It would seem that Uri has achieved partial enlightenment when as a child the ball of fire approached him and then entered into him so that he lay unconscious for a long time afterwards-this was one of the forms that enlightenment takes. He shares that experience with another notable contemporary enlightened one, namely Pak Subuh-or Bapak, founder of the Subod Faith-who while strolling along the road homeward one day met a great ball of fire coming towards him until it entered into him-Subud (short for Suzilah, Buddhi Dharma) was the result of that momentous event. So, when Uri Geller tells us of his own experience we are compelled to believe him, because forty five years later-metal still bends in his hands, and seeds sprout in his palm and watches all around the country start ticking again after years of motionless existence.
He has stated that sometimes this energy residing within him is stronger than at other times. Indeed on certain occasions it would depend on the people that surround him, and the atmosphere in which any experiments take place. If the atmosphere is congenial-he finds it easier to work, whereas if he is made to feel tense, nothing happens. If after a bout of conjugal bliss he felt his supernatural powers diminish-that would be a clear indication as to what new direction he should be taking-or whether he should continue along the same lines.
Since Uri Geller was born fifty-four years ago in 1946 great advancement has been made in the study of psychology and psychiatry has moved with a great surge forward expanding their field of vision. In spite of that, there is still much opposition and scepticism about revelations of brain potential, which still remains unknown in science.
The study of yoga in India practised by Yogis throughout the ages, has always dealt with the activation of the dormant force, known as Kundalini which helps human evolution towards a superior dimension of consciousness and the discovery of a super sensory chamber in the brain, which springs into action when certain mental techniques are followed, the most efficacious being meditation in the form of mantra repetition. This can be accelerated by fasting or any kind of sensory deprivation.
Hitherto, this brain potential has been largely untapped, but what is now termed as the "New Age" is the result of an awareness of an altered consciousness.
Mystics are able to go where scientists fear to tread, right into the intimate Sanctum Sanctorum or Holy of Holies of the mind, which is a very elusive element indeed. And this elusiveness forms the basis of scientific scepticism and adamantly blinkered vision. We know now that ego constitutes a very small periphery of awareness. There is a consciousness, which is unfettered by the mortal, fleshy frame of the brain. It is now possible by certain techniques which are practiced in countless meditation centres which make it possible for the activation of the spino-cerebral system, and allows for the observation of the amazing metamorphosis which results from mental penetration to the deeper layers of Creation.
Our daily consciousness in which our ego lives and acts is a very shallow layer of awareness, but mystics have known this for centuries, while scientists are very slowly having to come to terms with the fact that there are mental phenomena verging on the spiritual which science will never be able to fathom from its empirical stance, nor offer an explanation for. Unfortunately, the only way to study the mind is through the mind.
But mind cannot be proved to exist with empirical weights and measurements-nor can it be perceived by the senses. So because science attempts to study consciousness with inadequate tools, it will continue to come up against a brick wall-that famous "Cloud of Unknowing". Only by transcending the empirical system of verification or proof can the existence and expansion of consciousness be grasped. By insisting on using only the empirical yardstick, scientific study bars itself from access to real discovery of the almost unbelievable potential that lies dormant in the very own brain of the scientists themselves! Nor will they ever become acquainted with the power-centre known in India as Kundalini Shakti, but which has been termed in other countries as "The sun behind the sun" or "The philosopher's stone". It is an actual but extremely subtle organ, so subtle that it defies all efforts at proving its existence. This is illustrated by the story of speakers at a certain scientific conference where one brain surgeon stands up and declares "In all my years of neuro surgery, I have never once discovered the mind". Whereas a colleague stands up and says "In all my years of brain surgery, I have never come across the thing called LIFE!". Now even the most sceptical scientist cannot deny that mind exists although they can never be detected by scientific instruments nor can they be proved empirically as actual objects.
The study of the inner psychic force which exists in every human being (and every living creature to a greater or lesser degree) has been kept a secret for thousands of years. The reasons for the secrecy being that if dabbled about with indiscriminately, there are potential dangers that may explode in one's face. That is why it has always been handed down from teacher to disciple by word of mouth throughout the ages. There is no mention of it in the Encyclopaedia Britannica or the Oxford English Dictionary though it has been written about quite extensively in Chinese, Japanese, Tibetan, Nepalese, Thai and Indian literature.
Most recently, Gopi Krishna, in his autobiography "Kundalini-the Evolutionary Energy of Man". People like Alan Watts, Timothy Leary, Eric Fromm, Deepak Chopra, John Polofield and all the Indian and Western Gurus who currently roam the world teaching the science and techniques of consciousness expansion, and performing fantastic feats verging on the miraculous.
In spite of all this, scientists have never made any steps towards the study of Kundalini. Probably because in their heart of hearts they know that it will open up a Pandora's Box that would undermine all the rickety structure they have so carefully built over the centuries, determined to eliminate any manifestation of any spiritual or paranormal faculties that mankind is endowed with.
When asked for the definition of the word "love", it is almost impossible to explain in words that would make another person understand how it feels to love and be loved. The only way possible to convey the meaning of the word love is for the person himself or herself to have the actual experience of giving and receiving love-Love becomes known, not because of any definition but because of an unmistakeable subjective sensation within themselves.
If we are to understand the activation of the fire element known as "Kundalini" or what Paul Brunton calls the "Serpent Power", each individual needs to experience it for himself or herself.
Since personal experience of an awakened Kundalini is such a rare occurrence, the next best thing would be to listen to what an individual has to say about his or her own experience of it and its physical and psychological effects. Whether we believe them depends on a number of factors. If I say "I love you", there is no possible means for the person to whom I say it to prove that I actually experience any love for him or her. Without some faith in each other, it would be impossible for any relationship to progress or last. Of course, in the case of love, we can determine the truth of a declaration to a certain extent, by outward signs and demonstrations of love. We give the loved one gifts, shower him with gifts, pay them compliments, go out with them, express love physically with hugs and kisses or intimate physicality. We show them how much we trust them, how much we miss them, how miserable we are without them and do anything we know that would make them happy. What we can never do is prove it to the loved ones how much we love them by using encephalograms or scales, or test tubes or any other method.That is why Uri Geller is the subject of so much speculation and controversy. No matter how many tests he has been subjected to, most of them endorsed by eminent scientists as to the authenticity of their success-there is always some sceptic or other who will insist on categorically denying even authenticated scientific endorsement.
The following is an account of Gopi Krishna's awakening of the Kundalini after he had meditated for about three hours each day throughout seventeen years: "I sat steadily, unmoving and erect, my thoughts uninterrupted and cantered on the shining lotus, intent on keeping my attention from wandering and bringing it back again and again whenever it moved in any other direction. My whole being was so engrossed in the contemplation of the top of my head, that for several minutes at a time I lost touch with my body and surroundings. During such intervals, I used to feel as if I were poised in mid air without any feeling of my physical body. During one such spell of intense concentration, I suddenly felt a strange sensation below the spine at the place touching the seat while I sat cross-legged on a folded blanket spread on the floor.
The sensation was so extraordinary and pleasing, that my attention was forcibly drawn towards it. The moment my attention was thus unexpectedly drawn from the point on which it was focussed, the sensation ceased. After a while, I grew composed and was soon deep in meditation as before. When completely immersed, I again experienced the sensation, but this time, instead of letting by mind leave the point where I had fixed it, I maintained a rigidity of attention throughout. The sensation then extended upward-growing in intensity and I felt myself wavering but with a great effort, I kept my attention centred around that point.
Suddenly with a roar like that of a WATERFALL, I FELT A STRAM OF LIQUID LIGHT ENTER MY BRAIN THROUGH THE SPINAL CHORD. THE ILLLUMINATION grew brighter and brighter - the roaring louder. I felt a rocking sensation then felt myself slipping out of my body, entirely enveloped in a halo of light.
It is impossible to describe the experience accurately. I felt the point of consciousness that was myself growing wider surrounded by waves of light, which grew wider and wider, spreading outwards while the body appeared to have receded into the distance until I became unconscious of it. I was now all consciousness without any outer, without any idea of a corporeal appendage, immersed in a sea of light, simultaneously conscious and aware of every point, spread out as it were in all directions without any barrier or material obstruction, in a state of exultation and happiness almost impossible to describe."
There are some people, whether intellectual or not, in whom the evolutionary metamorphosis is not quite complete and so, they discover powers within themselves that they know nothing about. They can't tell whether their powers have a physical or psychological cause. Their awareness is only partial, and this partial awareness does sometimes allow them to some extent a few spontaneous flashes into mystic experience and inexplicable spiritual yearnings that can be quite intense. They have an active Kundalini and they don't know it. What is even more astounding that Uri Geller's miraculous powers is mankind's propensity for disbelief of the evidence of their own eyes. Why is it that nearly nine out of ten people find it impossible to accept evidence that provides proof of the existence of a power other than material. The really astounding thing, more so than Uri Geller's demonstration of the fact that a human being can possess the power to influence and manipulate the material world around him is this capacity we have of actually refuting the evidence of our own eyes. Why is it so impossible to accept that fact and to say "Well, we do not understand what's happening," but jump for joy that there is actual evidence of the existence of a power beyond the material world.
For those who spend their lives wishing that they could bring themselves to believe in the existence of God and a spiritual aspect to life, one would think that it would be a tremendous boon for actual proof to unfold evidence that could soothe our anxious, worried, bewildered minds, and provide us with an anchor of faith that would help us lead our lives on a higher, more joyful level.
People who have spent years trying to find answers to the riddle of the universe, and found it difficult to believe in God, but wished with all their heart and soul that they could-should dance for joy when proof of spiritual forces is presented to them.
Why is it that when we are confronted with something that we do not understand, we feel the need to hound, persecute and eventually destroy, even kill, someone gifted with powers such as Uri Geller's? His misfortune is that he was born in Israel rather than India or some other Oriental country where yogis abound who have developed their spiritual powers to the full. There are literally countless individuals in India. Yogis who are either preaching gurus., like Swami Muktanda, Guru Maharaj, Maharishi ahesh Yogi, Ananda mayl ma, Sri aurobindo, Rajneesh, Mother Meera, Satya Sal Baba to name but a few, who have ashrams that accommodate thousands of seekers after the truth who come to them from all corners of the earth. If Uri were born in India, he might have joined their ranks and become a famous teacher or joined the even greater number of yogis who have achieved their potential to the full but who choose to live in seclusion in forests and caves meditating and sending out powerful vibrations that counteract the forces that oppose good. But because Uri was born in a land where these highly advanced, highly developed individuals are few and far between (the last heard of such individual who taught and performed miracles fed the hungry multitudes, healed the sick and raised the dead, walked on water, levitated and performed all the yogic feats and went about teaching and preaching the Truth to the crowds that swarmed around Him to learn to better their lives-was Jesus Christ of Nazareth, two thousand years ago and her was killed) and precisely because of the scarcity of such God realized men and or women, in that region, Uri Geller attracted the attention of the nation whose myriads of sceptics hounded him, baying like wolves after their prey, persecuted him, calling him a charlatan, wrote inch high defamatory titles and derogatory articles about him in the newspapers, write threatening letters and made threatening phone calls. Had he been born in India, he would have been accepted as an advanced yogi where such happenings are daily occurrences and are accepted like any other as a matter of course. To add to his misfortune, was the fame Uri acquired when transposed by interested scientists to the United States of America and Europe, where his fame spread through the media until he became a household name.
The mind boggling fact is that in spite of all the scientific testing in laboratories under strict conditions which repeatedly produced irrefutable proof with the testimony of the highest ranking scientists in the world, respected and well known each in his own particular field-there still exist individuals who, when faced with the inexplicable, revert to the even more inexplicable tendency in people-not to disbelieve the evidence of their own eyes, but to find it absolutely necessary and impossible to avoid gnashing their teeth, clenching their fists, hissing, booing and yelling abuse at a man whose only crime is that he possesses the power to hold a seed in the palm of his hand and make it sprout, and who can make metal melt at his touch, or reproduce a picture from reading somebody's mind and can locate hidden oilfields and gold mines from sitting high above in a helicopter. A man who aims to help anyone and everyone and make them happy-or heal people of their disease.
To make matters worse, Uri Geller was "taken under the wing" of Andreja Pukharich and transported to the West where his fame incited controversy, disbelief, amazement. Jealousy and antagonism by those faced with a phenomenon that surpassed their understanding and all this controversy has been kept simmering for three decades.
In India people have been able to develop consciously the same powers possessed by Uri Geller, through their yogic practices. Yogic scriptures state that these faculties are not meant to be indulged in - and certainly not meant to be used in public demonstrations-but that one should go beyond these faculties, which if indulged in-especially for money making purposes and self glorification and fame and fortune-actually constitute a stumbling block on the spiritual path and keep one stuck at that particular stage in one's evolution so that one cannot progress to the higher states of blissful consciousness until one's focus changes and the final aim becomes the union of the soul with God, through a gradual ascent towards perfection.
Be that as it may-what needs to be looked at a bit more closely at this juncture is this inherent disease, this bitterness and rage that people find necessary to direct towards somebody like Uri Geller for demonstrating his metaphysical powers. Here are a few names of scientists and their numerous tests that took place which provide proof that contrary to being a charlatan or a stage magician performing sleight of hand as his accusers like to call him, here is actually a human being in possession of paranormal faculties which place him completely apart from the average human being.
Most scriptures tell us that these faculties are inherent in each and every one of us, but that it is up to us to follow the spiritual; precepts and practices laid down for us if we wish to develop these inherent faculties in order to fulfil our human potential and eventual unification with the Deity that lives within each human being.
These vehement reactions that are elicited from people when they are faced with excellence of any kind, healing, enriching, elevating, inspiring and divine-it is as though people are dead set against being presented with proof that such phenomena exist. To list but a few scientists and experiments that they carried out-even though we know that the conclusion will still be that many will still resort to refuting evidence that proves the existence o paranormal powers within human beings, though they may lie dormant in the vast majority of people. In the special few they are made manifest as in the case of Uri Geller.
The first of the long list of scientists was Doctor Andriya Puharich who happened to heat about Uri and moved from the States to Israel in order to study this phenomenon. He was an ear specialist who happened to be very interested in psychic phenomena and wanted to check out Uri Geller to see whether his psychic gifts were genuine. Using various electronic gadgets like magneto-meters, tape recorders, compasses, cameras and mirrors, Dr. Puharich had come with a long list of impressive credentials. He had a medical degree from North Western and had carried out experiments and lectured in leading American Institutions.
In his experiments he kept meticulous records and watched Uri like a hawk to make sure that no trickery could take place. He risked ridicule among scientific colleagues because he was delving into psychic phenomena. In taking Uri to the States so that he could be examined by other scientists and seeking to provide proof of Uri's authenticity for the sake of his own reputation and as a scientists as well as to justify Uri Geller and his paranormal powers.
In 1972 Uri was introduced to Doctor Friedberg Karger of the Max Plank Institute of plasma physics, who had two rings that Uri bent and cracked by just stroking-which were examined by Manfred Lipa. This is what Doctor Karger said in summing up his conclusions about Uri Geller for the press: "The powers of this man are a phenomenon that in theoretical physics cannot be explained. Scientists already know of similar cases. It is like Atomic Science, at the turn of the century. It was already a reality. It was just that at the time, one couldn't explain it in terms of physics."
Dr. Karger was so impressed with Uri's powers that he planned to start a research programme of his own, instead of which he joined Doctor Puharich and Captain Edgar Mitchel-the astronaut and other American scientists.
Uri underwent more tests under Professor Gerald Feinberg of the Columbia University physics department and Doctor Wilbur Franklin of Kent State University-moving watch hands by mental remote control, breaking rings and other metal objects and getting pocket calculators that had stopped working to start up again and continue working perfectly.
The following list is a collection of scientific observations on the paranormal powers of Uri Geller, by well known scientists, each in their own laboratory in different parts of the world: Eldon Byrd-Physical Scientist of the Naval Surface Weapons Centre in White Oak Laboratory-Silver Spring, Maryland. He is an electrical engineer and a medical engineer and has this to say: "After several tests with Uri Geller, all the bends that have been produced thus far by Geller in Nitiorol wires have been permanent deformations. The wires can be crimpled or twisted into any shape by hand only upon being heated to a temperature of about two hundred and ten degrees Fahrenheit. All the wires returned to the shape that Geller had imposed on them. How did Geller achieve this result? At present, I have no scientific explanation for what happened during both testing periods. I can definitely say that the possibility of fraud on Geller's part can be completely ruled out".
This report has met with the official approval of the Naval Surface Weapons Centre, and has been released for publication by the Department of Defence no less! Here is an extract of a paper written by Harold Pithoff, PHD and Russell Targ from the Stanford Research Institute, Menlow Park, California: "After repeated experiments where Uri Geller reproduced drawings that somebody else had previously drawn and hidden in boxes, we have continued to work with picture drawing tasks in an effort to achieve repeatability so that we could vary the experimental conditions and determine the effect of physical parameters on the phenomena.
As a result of Geller's success in this experimental period, WE CONSIDER HE HAS DEMONSTRATED HIS PARANORMAL PERCEPTUAL ABILITY IN A CONVINCING AND UNAMBIGUOUS MANNER".
The also placed objects in cylinders or boxes, and hid them and asked Uri to draw what was inside the container - there was even a bunch of grapes, with twenty four grapes in the bunch, and the picture that Uri Geller drew indeed had twenty four grapes in that bunch.
According to Doctor Wilbur Franklin-the physicist at Kent State University, Uri Geller fractured four metal objects made of steel and platinum in the presence of Doctor Wilbur Franklyn-some of them without even being touched. Doctor Franklyn says: "The bending of the objects was amazing in itself, but what was even more spectacular was that after analysis of the fractured surfaces under the probing eye of a scanning electron microscope with very high magnification power, all the fractures that Uri Geller had performed resembled fatigue fractures showing signs of excessive wear and tear, although the objects were brand new. After extensive experimentation, Doctor Frankyn came to this conclusion stating briefly: "The evidence based on metallurgical analysis of the fractured surfaces indicates that a paranormal influence must have been operative in the formation of these fractures".
As a result of six weeks of testing of Uri Geller's reputed powers at the Stanford Research Institute, the two aforementioned scientists, Harold Puthoff and Russell Targ published an editorial in the scientific magazine "Nature" saying; "We are publishing a paper that is bound to create something of a stir in the scientific community. The claims made are bound to be greeted with a pre-conditioned reaction among many scientists. To some, it simply confirms what they have always known or believed-to others it is beyond the laws of science and therefore necessarily unacceptable".
The following passage is contained in the introduction of "The Geller Papers". It states that Uri Geller came out of the experimental ordeal exhausted and the S.R.I. Scientists came out with a statement: "We have observed certain phenomena FOR WHICH WE HAVE NO SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION". Not only scientists, but well known stage magicians, namely Lorka and Dxon, after rigorous tests, without Uri Geller even knowing that he was being tested or that they were stage magicians concluded in their official report to the Society of American Magicians with the endorsement of Uri Geller's powers....
It is our unanimous finding, that although we as magicians can duplicate each of these test results my using methods known to KNOWLEDGE THAT ANY METHOD OF TRICKERY COULD HAVE BEEN USED To PRODUCE THESE EFFECTS UNDER THE CONDITIONS TO WHICH URI GELLER WAS SUBJECTED". These tests were conducted in 1975.
In 1974 another famous magician in Copenhagen-Leo Leslie, a great sceptic, absolutely sure that Uri Geller was a fraud, made him go through several tests-one of them being that Uri Geller was given an enamelled nickel plated key to try to bend. Leo Leslie said that he thought that the key was not going to bend. He said = "I took the key and studied it closely, but while I sat looking at the key, the enamel suddenly started to crack and a second later, strips of the nickel plating curled up like small banana peels, while the key actually started to bend in my hand". He states that, as far as he could tell there was no form of magic used during the events that he witnessed that day. In conclusion he said "While Geller was in Copenhagen, I did not catch him in any deceptions, therefore I have to continue to rely on my own judgement and experience as a mentalist that Uri Geller is Genuine".
Yet further endorsement is offered by Laurence Fried, one time president of the American Society of Photographers in Communications. He describes an experience he had with Geller while on an assignment for a National Magazine and the following event was described by him: "I fastened the lens cap very securely on to a fifteen millimetre Nikkon Lens, and then using generous amounts of photographer's Gaffer tape (a two inch wide cloth like tape), I put two complete layers across the lens cap. I then wound another long piece of tape around the lens barrel with a closed camera. Uri Geller held it at arms length and photographed his forehead, while Fried photographed him photographing himself and two of Fried's photographic assistants were present throughout the procedure. When, next day, the film was processed, most of the frames were black except for number ten which contained a blurry, though recognisable picture of Geller at exactly the same spot he had been sitting the day before. In his report entitled "A Photographer's Account" Fried describes the precautions that he took to ensure that fraud could not take place on Geller's part. He had no choice but to conclude and verify what he believes, that the images on frame 10 was produced by no means other than paranormal.
In March 1974, Uri Geller arrived in Canada at City TTV studio in Toronto and was exposed to close observation by a doctor A.R.G. Owen, executive director of the New Horizon Research Foundation in Toronto and former head of the department of Genetics at Cambridge University in England.
Experiments were carried out in front of a live Television audience. After Uri Geller performed his feats impeccably. Doctor Owen had no choice but to write his report that the phenomena, after much consideration were "paranormal and totally genuine".
In another instance at Birkbeck College, University of London, four scientists tested Uri Geller and observed another phenomenon. While a spoon was being bent in Uri's hand, a disbelieving Doctor John B. Hasted, a physicist, grabbed the spoon and reports that "the centre was floppy, plastic, like a heated glass tube." When the spoon hardened, it broke in two.
Hasted readily reports why he believes in the possibility of dematerialisation of physical objects, whereas he had not done so previously. He says: "Many cases of dematerialization have occurred in Uri Geller's presence. He also declares "Uri made objects disappear under circumstances that led us to think that conjuring was out of the question". He also describes at length the influence that Uri Geller has on a Geiger counter, which invariably registered higher than normal radiation levels wherever Uri touched it.
In England, Doctor John G. Taylor, a mathematician at King's College, London University writes in "A visit by Uri Geller" after watching objects flying around the room when Geller was present.. "I should certainly have dismissed reports of such happenings as nonsense. If I myself had not seen them happen. I was compos mentis at the time, enough to monitor various pieces of scientific equipment while these objects were in flight. I certainly did not feel as if I were in an altered state of consciousness".
Ever since then, Doctor Taylor discovered fifteen children, all of them under the age of sixteen, who can bend metal as Uri Geller does. He dubbed this ability "The Geller Effect", because children did not have this ability until they saw Uri Geller perform on British Television shows. He authenticates this by stating that they are genuine. Added to that, Doctor Taylor and several other scientists at Birkbeck observed Geller set a Geiger counter ticking just by touching it, which meant that there took place ionising radiation up to five hundred times that of the normal background level.
At the National Institute for High Studies and Medical Research of the Foch hospital for Suresnes, seven experiments took place under the supervision of Doctor Albert Ducrock with five other scientists present. What took place there was that without touching a compass, indeed, he was unable to touch the compass because both his hands were held by scientists, Uri Geller was able to deflect the needle of the compass. One interesting statement that Uri Geller made during that experiment was this: "I have never been able to bend or break n object unless there are at least one or two other people in the room. When I am alone, I don't seem to have this power. I feel that in some way I am taking energy from people in the room."
Another thing that helps him perform more successfully is if there happens to be any metal object close by presumably to act as a conductor for the energy that emanates from him.
At the Foch Hospital sessions, he was able to bend a key more easily when it was placed on a metal plate. He did this without even touching it according to Doctor Ducrock writing in "The Geller Report".
Countless numbers of people contacted Doctor Taylor at King's college reporting happenings that were amazing and inexplicable taking place in their own homes such as clocks ticking that has stopped for years, objects moving, metal bending and so on. After thorough investigation he had no choice but to conclude that there is enough evidence to justify him to present the world with this written statement: "The present investigation is presented not as the final and conclusive evidence of the Uri Geller Effect-but rather that there is enough evidence that the Uri Geller Effect exists and is genuine.
The same conclusion has been reached by Doctor John Hasted who acted completely independently and Doctor Thelma Moss who had worked with people that had developed spontaneous paranormal abilities, just by having watched or heard Uri on television or had even just heard of him. Doctor Price says, "This may be the most significant happening in the history of parapsychology. It would seem from all this, that a large number of people have the capacity to be activated through the mass media and a psychic with the personality and the ability of ri Geller allowing psycho kinetic phenomena to be produced. In the epilogue to the Uri Geller papers we read, "A challenge to scientists will arise if investigations will continue to turn up signs of kinetic powers. It would then be urgently necessary for the scientific community to come to terms with something totally beyond its powers of explanation". This quotation comes from the "NATURE" magazine, December 1973 edition.
Of course, in over two decades following that statement, there has been so much more evidence gathered on paranormal phenomena involving not only Uri Geller himself but other individuals. The scientific community has indeed had to turn its attention to research into the paranormal-not only among psychologists but among physical science. It went so fare that in 1974, a group of physicists met in Geneva to try to come to terms with the physical events. Also, a group of physicists in New York even held a conference called "The physics of paranormal phenomena". So we see that things are finally beginning to shift to such an extent that physical scientists are beginning to become interested in the fields of Para-psychology. Not only physicists, but chemists and engineers. This was bound to come about sooner or later because such devices as electroencephalographs, temperature sensors, galvanic skin detectors, electronic feed back devices, cardiograms, Kirlian photography and such like enabled scientists to monitor people's brain waves and heart rates and electrical skin conductivity when testing paranormal claims and that all human beings potentially possess.
Having enumerated some of the many scientists that have endorsed Uri Geller after thorough testing, it should be pointed out that the scientific community would save itself a great deal of to-ing and fro-ing and speculating and endless testing and researching and writing of reports and books on the subject, and would save itself a great deal of trouble if a few members went over to India and met up with the countless examples of God Realized men, or self realized men or "psychics" as they wish to call them who have the same powers as Uri Geller and in numerous cases, even more so.
The evidence for the spiritual propensity of a human being would be so overwhelming that they would quite possible end up throwing out all their books and electronic gadgetry, bow their heads in humble acceptance of the powers of the spirit and acknowledge that the Divine power exists and would make all their scientific activity and scientific instruments obsolete and bring them to the realization that if they were to spend several centuries weighing and measuring and discussing and writing, testing and proving and disproving, they would still never arrive at a "scientific Explanation" of the non physical aspect of the Universe.
