The characteristics of a person going through the fourth chakra , is his or her willingness to refrain from retaliation when hurt or angered. One is more forgiving and has an altogether wiser outlook on life, and more aware of being loved and accepting of the love that is received and consequently finds it easier to give love.
A person of the heart chakra is recognizable by the loving way he or she treats the people that they come into contact with. Most of the negativities have been eliminated, or transformed by the positive qualities of love, tolerance, kindness and patience, non judgmentalism, forgiveness and being altogether more understanding and accepting of situations and people and events.
This has nothing to do with the thought process, neither has it anything to do with reaching a more reasonable age and experience - but springs from the spiritual energy within, a source that is always there and can be tapped into at will. It is our job to search for it and discover it in order to be able to live on a higher level of consciousness and looking at life as it were from a deeper perspective. Having achieved a certain degree of intuitive wisdom, helps one take another step in getting closer to God. Here one has access to these deeper levels where intuitive wisdom and compassion reside. As a result, it is possible to know in advance what the consequences of all our thoughts, words and deeds would be. In order to reach this stage it is necessary to make friends with our subconscious, and the easiest ways to succeed in doing that is through meditation, i.e. the process of mantra repetition.
In this state it becomes possible for us to get in touch with the more feminine aspect of our make up, because intuition and the unconscious have always been seen as manifestations of our feminine side as opposed to the masculine qualities of might, power and the reasoning faculty. We are told that biologically the right brain contains our feminine qualities, whereas the left brain contains our more masculine ones. The right brain deals with music and art, imagination, intuition, sensitivity and spatial perception. That is where non-verbal and non-rational insight reside. Whereas rationality and logic and all the other male qualities of a human being are to be found in the left side of the brain.
In order to achieve self integration, it is necessary for the two sides of the brain to co-operate rather than being constantly in a tug of war with each other. We should also be able to bypass reason in order to gain insight. Intuition and cogitation should work hand in hand rather than be opposed to each other. It would be more conducive to self integration if the thinking brain should accept the fact that intuition contains a sense of rightness that does not necessarily have an explanation. It should be possible for us to act upon intuition as well as reasoning.
When there is no longer a clash between the right and the left (the male/female side of our personality), we are able to live at peace and in a state of bliss in the heart chakra ; but before that happens one has to learn to trust one's intuition - which is none other than the promptings of the unconscious mind.
If a person can identify himself or herself with the part of oneself that is intuitive, one begins to acquire deeper knowledge. For this to happen, one doesn't only need to trust one's intuition, but to identify oneself with it. It is the Higher Self - One is ale to live in this realm, in the words of Alfred Lord Tennison "One knows the Right one lives by the Right, being guided by Wisdom and intuition and live in such a way that Wisdom stands in scorn of consequence". One does not live according to the dictates of others. It is possible in this chakra to give up group values or what society tells us is important - endorsing such things as war, competition fame, fortune, dealings in the stock market etc... All these values begin to fade and the inner world can be made more happy and wonderful and ecstatic than anything that the "outer world" has to offer us. The "outer life" is rendered very unimportant because we are living in a new realm and have begun a new journey.
This does not mean that one loses contact with the outer reality. It is just that one shifts one's conscious focus to that which is more important and satisfying. A person living in the fourth chakra is able to fly through time and space, where any obstacles to the spiritual journey are obliterated.
One of the signs that can be observed by an onlooker is that a person at this stage manifests a strong desire to be alone. This desire does not stem from any antisocial attitude; it is rather the need to be present in the event of the unfolding of the soul's evolution. Anyone unable to live with himself for long stretches at a time will find it very difficult to enter this blissful state.
It is necessary to be completely free of guilt. To live in a state of inner joy has nothing to do with the five senses, nor is there any need for structured, logical thinking - one just knows what there is to know - and is helplessly fascinated with God, and consequently much closer to the Divine and seeks all things dealing with the Divine, and is able to see divinity in everyone and everything that exists. His inner world becomes alive.
Before this exciting stage, a period of rest and peace is necessary so as to begin to understand how reality works and discover its secrets, where everything is well - ordered - and events happen as they should because they are guided by Higher Wisdom.
One realizes then that chaos is just an illusion - that in reality there is total order in the universe and that there is a reason for everything albeit up to this point - hidden from our view, and one sees the hand of God everywhere.
As the pattern emerges, one begins to learn lessons or messages or signs and it is possible to see the source of wisdom at work. One can live in a state of spontaneity and at the same time be aware of an overall plan by the Divine power that runs the universe which is run by an inexorable logic not needing any outside validation: and one can experience at this level "the peace that passeth all understanding". A peace that is not reached by logical thinking. It is at this stage that one can experience an inclusive love for all humanity and to love one person is to love everyone. Here it is possible to include all love in the one love - and what is even more wonderful is that one does not crave other people's love, because such support is provided internally from the Higher Self.
Detachment in the fourth chakra does not mean a type of death - it means on the contrary, an expansion of life. Detachment does not mean relinquishing all that is valuable but rather a letting go of duality, which is a state that only ego can thrive in. It does not mean that someone living in stage four has opted out of reality but feels free because he is no longer bound by social bonds.
Duality loses its sting as eternal unity reveals itself. This is an experience to be lived - not to be talked about. It is a totally universal experience - though very few people achieve the seventh chakra , we're all "programmed" to get there in the end: but even if we don't get there in this life-time, every effort at transcendence brings us closer to the goal. This is not quite as out of reach as we imagine, we have at our disposal the possibility of doing so by means of meditation which all God-realized teachers have taught us how to do. The choice is ours. We need not live a life of struggle with out desires and habits. We can live with the awareness that eternity is all around us - that this life is only a dream, and that our aim is to awaken. Meditation places in our hands the tool through which such an awakening can be achieved.
Now, in stage four, is the world of insight and personal growth.
As far as personal growth is concerned, Uri has encountered the Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, and we can see from their mutual correspondence, the sum total o which is adequately preserved for posterity in the form of a book entitled "Confessions" that Uri has a very strong religious inclination and a love of all things holy - but nothing over and above what a normal religious person so-called, would think and say or do or profess. Insight in his case is limited by religionism. We cannot use the word insight in Uri's case in a mystic sense. He has probably got the gift of insight, but is not informed enough about the mystic way - to know where to direct it or where to look for inspiration or revelation.
On the other hand - when we are told that as a child Uri was able to tell his mother exactly how much money she had earned at card playing, or that he was able to tell her which winning cards to play - or numerous other biographical anecdotes told which affirm that he did possess a certain amount of insight or clairvoyance, we see that it was not directed at the right target - viz - mystic union with God - He used it mostly to impress other people such as classmates, teachers, friends and family with his cleverness - (this according to his own admission in books and conversations). His gift of insight was not targeted at personal growth. Of course - in "Confessions" his correspondence with the rabbi, shows that he is occasionally confronted with the deeper questions of life and its purpose and meaningfulness - but the letters do not present us with the unfolding of a spiritual evolution towards the light spiralling towards the Apex of Truth. There is no expression of the soul's yearning for and striving towards God.
Why did Uri's Kundalini wake up then, and remain stuck half way up his spinal cord for five decades? Pundits expert in this field might not be able to discover the cause of such a colossal misfortune - for such an occurrence is deemed a misfortune indeed, but they would all with one accord agree upon the cure - and advise him to find a bona fide Guru, get initiated and start meditating in order to release Kundalini from the impasse she is in, so that she can continue unhampered to the Sahasrar or seventh chakra located at the top of the head where her Divine Lover resides and awaits her return patiently.
Then, the enlightenment resulting from such a momentous event could literally change the face of the world and redirect the course of history. For once he is enlightened, Uri's powers would increase a thousand-fold and he would graduate from bending spoons and demonstrating his limited powers on stage and television to pouring balm on humanity's wounds. He would move on from writing psychic thrillers to teaching people how to contact their Higher Self within to reach their own enlightenment.
With Kundalini halted in her tracks, like an elevator stuck between two floors, she can never move on and upwards until the required fuel is provided. Uri alone can liberate her and thus procure his own enlightenment and the fulfilment of his potential.
An enlightened being is one who's conscious and subconscious mind have become united. He no longer lives as a divided self. Once this has been achieved, one becomes hampered by the "normal" human limitations. Numerous books have been written about the subject by the blessed few who have attained enlightenment - to help the rest of humanity to get there too. This is what meditation centres up and down the country and throughout the world are all about. This is why thousands of people wend their way to India every year in search of a guru who will help them in their quest.
It takes years of meditational practice to get to where Uri is now - sometimes a whole lifetime, and to believers in the Reincarnation principle, perhaps numerous lifetimes; That is why anyone in the know looks on at Uri in awe and envy and admiration, but also aghast at the way he chooses to waste it all on non spiritual goals and activities, ignoring all yogic, mystic, sufic and/or Kabalistic literature - claiming loudly that these things don't interest him!!! To have one foot in heaven but to refuse to enter - seems to be the height of human folly and about as great a tragedy as it is possible to imagine. All made worse by the fact that onlookers can only watch in helpless anxiety for him, and frustration at the fact that such a tremendous heavenly gift should be wasted on him and that he deliberately closes his ears to any mention of the spiritual path.
One can understand how early poverty should have triggered such ardent pursuit of money, and the desire to shower his mother with wealth - and the need to ensure that his wife and children need never suffer the deprivations he himself experienced. But it seems perplexing that money amassment still seems to be the driving force in his life, motivating his every activity and occupying his every thought. instead of putting his feet up, resting his brain, his body, his emotions and redirecting his energies to building solidly on the eternal values.
As for his relentless striving for fame or making sure he remains famous - does he really need to keep fanning the flame? Obviously not - since almost every man woman and child on the planet knows of him through constant year in year out exposure on the media. His memory is ensured for posterity as long as people read books, listen to tapes or watch videos. He has got what everyone strives for, and more, yet didn't someone once remind us, that it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter heaven because his thoughts would constantly be thinking of matters other than God, who is heavenly bliss itself? Fortunately he is spiritually inclined and is finding it easy to switch to a more spiritual life now, as he need not give anything up. He can AFFORD to dedicate his time to serving God and teaching humanity and enhancing his own spiritual evolution. He will still be rich for ten lifetimes to come - and he will still be famous, but his fame and fortune would be edifying to the human race instead of spending an incredible amount of time and printing ink, deliberating about whether Uri Geller is a magician, a mystic or a Charlatan, people should be listening to a potentially exceptional spiritual teacher and pondering his sayings and applying them to their lives. With every newspaper, radio and Television station at his disposal, he is beginning to touch the hearts and minds of millions. Such is the role of an enlightened one, which he is well on the way to becoming and which is so much needed these days, especially with the state of the world being as it is now.
